A pretty girl from humble beginnings
has become the focus of an online cheerleading competition,. where
judges allow vote winners to audition for the Indianapolis Colts squad.
Tella Toney, 20, currently works as a lunch server at Southridge High School in Huntingburg, but she is hoping to join the Colts by winning winning the online competition.
Nick Lagrange from 14News, eho interviewed the aspiring cheerleader, explained: 'She was hiding in there, among the other lunch ladies, she's not your grandfathers lunch lady for sure.'
The news channel's Facebook page has apparently exploded with response for Miss Toney, who is one of 62 hopefuls.
'I've been wanting to be a Colts cheerleader for a long time,' she said.
'I had to upload pictures on there of me, one for voting and then three to five for the judges to see, I guess.'
Miss Toney explained that the
judges will allow the top ten vote-winners to audition to be a Colts
cheerleader in March - she currently leads the pack with 5,300 votes.
Demi Z, in second place, has 4,325 votes.
Oralee Cotton, food service director at Southridge High School said: 'She showed me how to get to the website, where to go, and I've been voting daily.
Ms Cotton added that the whole food service staff, as well as the school's students, are excited for Miss Toney.
'They've never had a lunch lady, as far as being this young, to do something that neat,' said Ms Cotton.
Ms Toney, who went to Northeast Dubois High School herself, said 'audition training' will begin next month, and that the auditions themselves will happen March 23.
