Spring is on the horizon and who
better to represent the season of all things bright and beautiful than
the singer of last year’s biggest pop music phenomenon?
Call Me Maybe singer, Carly Rae Jepsen, stars as the cover subject on Seventeen magazine’s March issue and is looking perky as usual in prints that pop.
The 27-year-old looks young and fresh in a romper which shows off her arms and legs, featuring two kinds of floral prints.
Teaming her clothing with
chunky gold bangles and a colourful necklace, the music artist stands
casually in front of a window with blossoming trees lining the frame.
The front of the publication – which is released to newsstands on February 5 – shows the blue-eyed beauty wearing an Aztec style frock and charm necklace as her tresses blow in front of a wind machine.
Carly has also been named a judge for Seventeen’s 2013 Pretty Amazing contest – a nationwide search for the next real-girl cover star.
It’s a fitting choice seeing as she shot to fame after placing third Canadian Idol’s season five.
Later brought into the worldwide spotlight by celebrity fan Justin Bieber, who she says she gets her nose for fun from.
She explained: ‘Justin leads by example. I love that he works hard and has fun. I was in Paris promoting my new album, Kiss, for three days with no time off.
‘So I went out at four in the morning
to go explore the entire city. I try to make moments happen that feel
very special and memorable because that’s exactly how Justin does it.’
The hard worker also revealed that she juggled many jobs to fund her life as an aspiring star.
Carly confessed: ‘In college there was a time I felt lost and had the blues. I wanted to write songs, but I didn’t know how to make it a career.
‘But I also knew I’d be happy working eight minimum-wage jobs to try to pull it off. So I was doing every job imaginable to pay rent while I was pursuing this career. I guess I like the hunger of not knowing if things will work out.’
Now she has made it, she is having to juggle keeping her career and relationship in tact but insists it is working out fine because of her and singer Matthew Koma’s dedication.
She said: ‘When you meet the right person, you’re just like, Wow! I’m having the busiest year of my life and somehow I’ve met an amazing person who has been a grounding force. I don’t think anything can get in the way if you both really want it badly.’
Carly added about her role model responsibility to youngsters around the globe: ‘I think what makes someone pretty amazing is finding out what your passion is and then figuring out how you can use it to give back or contribute something to the world.’
