Watch former Michigan governor's hilarious appearance on the Dating Game in 1978

Former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm was called many things after her bizarrely energetic speech at the Democratic National Convention last week.
‘Cute and curvaceous’ were not among the descriptions of the politician.
But that's exactly how she was described when she made appearance in an 1978 episode of The Dating Game.

'Cute and curvaceous': Granholm, then 19-years-old, was introduced onto the show as 'cute and curvaceous'
Granholm appears on the show as bright-eyed, bushy-tailed 19-year-old wearing a bust-enhancing shirt and boasting an impressive blonde bouffant.

A far cry from her rip-roaring appearance at the DNC last Thursday, Granholm appears to be slightly shy during the gameshow where she asks questions to three contestants vying for her affections.
She didn’t end up picking Michael Darby, a.k.a Contestant Number One, who put the footage of the dating show on YouTube last week.
In the end, the pretty teenager plumps for ‘dashing and debonair’ Contestant Number Two – Steve - described as a model, aspiring actor and keen skier.

Winner: Granholm picked Contestant Number Two - Steve, an aspiring actor. She seemed taken aback when he planted a kiss on her cheek
However, when Steve plants a kiss on Granholm’s cheek, she shows off some of those extreme facial expressions she demonstrated in North Carolina last week.
After being packed off together on a romantic getaway to Palm Springs California, Granholm presumably decided that Steve was not a keeper.
In 1986, the two-term governor married her husband, Daniel Mulhern, and the couple have three children together.
Now the Canadian-born American politician regularly graces the screen as a host for a prime time show on Current TV, the network created by former vice president and presidential candidate Al Gore.

Rousing: The 53-year-old's dramatic speech received mixed reactions with some saying she had a meltdown on stage and others praising her passion
The 53-year-old's September 6 speech thrust her into the limelight and became a talking point of the DNC.
During the six-and-a-half minute speech, she attacked Mitt Romney’s handling of the auto industry crisis while praising President Obama’s bailout, all while wildly gesturing, pulling extreme faces and throwing impassioned fist-pumps.
Targeting Romney during the speech, the Democrat received her wildest applause when she said: ‘Sure, Mitt Romney loves our lakes and trees.' (Dramatic pause) 'He loves our cars so much, they have their own elevator. But the people who design, build, and sell those cars? Well, in Romney's world, the cars get the elevator; the workers get the shaft!'
One tweeter succinctly summed up Granholm's performance writing: 'I HAVE WHAT SHE'S HAVING!!
